Livestock Evaluation Competition
What is the Livestock Evaluation?
The Nevada FFA Livestock Career Development Event is a competitive activity that tests the student's ability to select and evaluate livestock. Event components include evaluation classes of beef, sheep and swine: oral placement reasons on four classes; a written exam on livestock production and quality grading of slaughter cattle. A team event, based on production performance records, demonstrates the team's breeding livestock selection ability.
Due to the uncertainty of future fairs and events being held due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, Nevada FFA has made the determination that the 2021 livestock evaluation CDE will be held in some variation with the 2021 Nevada FFA convention and competitive events in March. Please check with your local FFA advisor for updated communications and logistics on this event.

The Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event transitioned to an online variation of the competition in May 2020 due to the COVID-19 public health emergency canceling all events. Participating students completed the exam, placed various classes of animals from video footage, and answered questions on a video class in place of oral reasons.
